The Snake is the first solo album by Shane MacGowan with backing band The Popes, featuring Máire Brennan (Track 8), Sinéad O'Connor (Track 12) and Johnny Depp (Track 7) on lead guitar. Like a number of songs recorded by MacGowan's previous band, The Pogues, the melody for "The Song With No Name" is based on a traditional Irish folk tune (in this case, "The Homes of Donegal").[1]
